The New LOF World Title Belt – The Bird
When we first conceived the idea of pitting two renowned chilli-eating titans, Johnny Scoville from the USA and UK Chilli Queen Shahina Waseem, against each other in the inaugural World Title Chilli-Eating Belt Match in July 2019 at the Guildford Cheese & Chilli Festival, we had no idea how this groundbreaking first-of-its-kind concept would take off.
What followed was a phenomenon that captivated the worldwide chilli community, uniting spice enthusiasts from all corners of the globe. The competition sparked conversations, forged friendships, and even drew in non-chilli-heads who became deeply invested. We always believed that the World Title Belt Match could be a game-changing innovation, and we were absolutely right. The epic Johnny Scoville vs. UK Chilli Queen showdown became a historic moment for the League of Fire (LOF)!
Expanding the League of Fire Title Belt System
Following the immense success of our World Title Belt – The Bird, we introduced three Regional Title Belts in 2021:
- The Americas Title Belt (Red Bird)
- The European Title Belt (Blue Bird)
- The Oceania Title Belt (Green Bird)
This expansion allowed greater inclusivity, giving competitive chilli-eaters worldwide an opportunity to participate and be recognised. The Regional Title Belts brought together the best competitors from their respective regions, further strengthening the global chilli-eating community.
In 2024, we introduced the first-ever Intercontinental Title Belt, known as the Silver Bird, allowing multi-regional participation at a global scale. The inaugural Intercontinental Title Match was hosted in Italy, marking yet another milestone in LOF history.

Intercontinental Title Belt – Silver Bird
However, one dream remained unfulfilled – bringing the League of Fire Belt Matches to Africa. After four years , this dream is finally becoming a reality! On 29 March 2025, we will launch the Africa Title Belt (Green & Gold Bird) at the Festival of Fire in Cape Town, South Africa.
A New Era of Championship Belts – The Next Generation

The All Black Bird, Green & Gold Bird, Blue Bird & Red Bird
To celebrate five years of League of Fire in 2024, we introduced a brand-new World Title Belt – four times heavier and significantly larger than its predecessor. This monumental redesign symbolises our incredible growth over the past five years.
In 2025, after four years of Regional Championships, we are retiring our original Regional Title Belts. These belts, similar in size and design to our Road Match Belts but with gold plates instead of silver, will be preserved in the LOF Museum as a tribute to their legacy. In their place, we are introducing larger and heavier belts with inners that will now be black, unlike the previous blue. These new Regional Title Belts will be equal in size to and the same design as our original World Title Belt to symbolise their significance.
This transition also brings some key changes:
- The Oceania Title Belt (Green Bird) will be retired and replaced with the All Black Bird, paying homage to the strength and spirit of the region.
- Each new Regional Title Belt will have the details of the festival where it was first launched inscribed, immortalising its debut event.
