- Agreement to These Terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the League of Fire website at leagueoffire.com (“the website”) and the League of Fire app (“the app”), together referred to as “the Service”. The Service is operated by SWELTER Productions Ltd, registered in England and Wales (“League of Fire”, “LOF”, “we”, “us”, “our”), and developed and published on our behalf by an appointed development and publishing partner acting as our service provider.
The website hosts the LOF Shop, the Privacy Policy, these Terms of Use and other published content. The app is the primary platform for community activity, challenge submissions, rankings and account management.
By creating an account or using either platform, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
- Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using it, you confirm that you are 18 or over and that all information you provide is accurate and truthful. There is no junior version of the Service and no parental consent route. League of Fire involves eating extremely hot food and is not appropriate for anyone under 18.
You may hold only one account, which works across both the app and the website. You may not create multiple accounts, impersonate another person, or use an account that belongs to someone else. If your account has been suspended or terminated for breach of these Terms, you may not register a new account on either platform.
Sign-in options (app)
On the app you may sign in using your email and password, or using a third-party provider — Google, Facebook or Apple. If you use a third-party sign-in provider, you are responsible for your account with that provider and for any activity on the Service that results from access through it.
- Health, Safety and Assumption of Risk
Please read this section carefully. It describes real risks that apply to you personally.
League of Fire involves eating chillies, hot sauces and other spicy or extreme foods. Consuming very spicy or high-capsaicin food can cause discomfort, illness or, in rare cases, serious harm, particularly for people with underlying health conditions. The effect of high-capsaicin products varies significantly between individuals and cannot be predicted.
You take part in any challenge, submission, event or activity entirely at your own risk and of your own free will.
We strongly recommend that you:
- Read the LOF Product Disclaimer before purchasing or consuming any challenge product
- Consult a doctor before participating, particularly if you have any heart condition, breathing condition, digestive or stomach condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, are on medication, or are otherwise unsure
- Never attempt a challenge or event alone — ensure someone is present who can assist and call for help if needed
- Stop immediately if you feel unwell — no ranking, badge or record on this platform is worth your health
- Follow all instructions and warnings provided by the challenge producer or event organiser
- Never encourage another person to continue beyond their limit
- Seek medical attention immediately if something goes wrong — submissions can wait
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, League of Fire is not responsible for any injury, illness or loss arising from your participation in any food challenge, event or activity, whether facilitated through the Service or organised by third parties.
- Your Account
Your account works across both the app and the website using the same login credentials. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of those credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account on either platform. You must notify us immediately at support@leagueoffire.io if you believe your account has been accessed without your authorisation.
You must keep your account information accurate and up to date. Providing false information, including a false date of birth, is a breach of these Terms and may result in account suspension or termination across both platforms.
For information on how to close your account and what happens to your data when you do, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
- What League of Fire Is and Is Not
League of Fire is a ranking and community platform for competitive chilli pepper eating and chilli challenges. We publish league tables, run seasons, verify submissions and maintain official rankings.
LOF produces and sells its own official challenge products directly through the LOF Shop on the website. For LOF-produced challenges, LOF is responsible for the product. Challenge products produced and listed by independent producers are the responsibility of those producers respectively. We do not supervise individual challenge attempts regardless of who produced the product.
LOF competitions and contests are either hosted by LOF directly at events, or sanctioned by LOF and run by an independent organiser under LOF rules and guidelines. Where a competition is LOF hosted, LOF is responsible for running the competition. Where a competition is LOF sanctioned, the organiser is responsible for running the competition under LOF guidelines. In both cases, your participation is subject to Section 3 of these Terms.
Events at which LOF competitions take place may be run by independent third-party organisers. Those organisers are responsible for the event itself — including venue, safety, logistics and any other activities at the event that are not part of the LOF competition.
- Content You Post
Content is posted via the app. You retain ownership of the content you create and post, including text, photos and videos. By posting content, you grant League of Fire a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reproduce and distribute that content for the purposes of operating, maintaining and promoting the Service, including on our social media channels.
You confirm that you have the right to share any content you post, that it does not infringe any third party’s intellectual property rights or other rights, and that it does not violate any applicable law.
You may delete content you have posted on the app. Deleting a post removes it from public view. However, content that has already been shared or reproduced elsewhere — for example in a social media post or a screenshot — may not be retrievable.
You must not post content that:
- Is unlawful, hateful, harassing, threatening, defamatory, obscene or otherwise objectionable
- Infringes the intellectual property rights or privacy of any third party
- Contains another person’s personal information without their consent
- Encourages dangerous activity or mocks another person for stopping or withdrawing
- Constitutes spam, unsolicited advertising or a fraudulent scheme
- Impersonates another person or misrepresents your identity or affiliation
We may remove any content that we reasonably consider to be in breach of these Terms, without prior notice and without being required to provide reasons for each removal.
- Acceptable Use
The following rules apply to your use of both the app and the website. You agree not to:
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to either platform, any other user’s account, or our systems or networks
- Use either platform for any fraudulent, unlawful or harmful purpose
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of either platform
- Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble any part of the Service
- Use automated tools, bots or scraping technology to access or collect data from either platform without our prior written consent
- Harass, threaten or endanger other users, organisers, producers or members of the public
We may issue warnings, restrict access, suspend or permanently terminate accounts that breach these Terms, at our sole discretion. Any suspension or termination applies across both platforms.
- Copyright and Intellectual Property
The Service — including its name, logo, design, software, content and all associated intellectual property across both the app and the website is owned by SWELTER Productions Ltd or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership of our intellectual property to you.
You may copy or print pages from the website solely for personal and non-commercial purposes. You may not otherwise use, modify, copy, print, display, reproduce, distribute or publish any information from the website or the app without our prior written consent.
The League of Fire name, logo and associated marks are proprietary marks of SWELTER Productions Ltd. You may not use them without our prior written consent.
You may not copy, modify, adapt, reproduce, distribute, publish or create derivative works of any part of the Service except as expressly permitted by these Terms or by prior written consent from us.
- Purchases — Website Only
LOF produces and sells its own official challenge products, merchandise and other items through the LOF Shop, accessible on the website at leagueoffire.com.
Purchases on the website are subject to the terms and conditions displayed at the point of sale. The app does not process payments and does not use Apple’s or Google’s in-app purchase systems. Any reference in the app to LOF Shop products will direct you to the website to complete the transaction.
Except where required by applicable consumer law, digital items are non-refundable once delivered to your account. Returns and refunds for physical products are governed by the terms displayed at the point of sale on the website and by applicable consumer law.
- Third-Party Services
The app integrates third-party providers including Google, Facebook and Apple for social sign-in, cloud hosting and media storage providers, and push notification services. The website integrates payment processing services. Your use of those services is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices, content or availability of any third-party service.
Both platforms may contain links to third-party websites. We have no control over those websites and are not responsible for their content, privacy practices or availability.
- Disclaimers
The Service both the app and the website is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
We do not represent that information on the website or the app is accurate, comprehensive or complete. We may add, change, suspend or discontinue features on either or both platforms at any time without notice.
This section does not affect any rights you may have under applicable consumer protection law that cannot be excluded or limited.
- Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, League of Fire will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or opportunity, arising out of or in connection with your use of either platform.
Where liability cannot be fully excluded by law, our total liability to you in respect of any claim arising from or in connection with the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you have paid to us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred pounds (£100).
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.
- Indemnity
You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless SWELTER Productions Ltd and its officers, directors, employees, agents and partners from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or in connection with your use of either platform, any content you post, or your breach of these Terms.
- Termination
You may stop using either or both platforms and delete your account at any time. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for details of how account deletion works and what happens to your information.
We may suspend or terminate your access to either or both platforms at any time if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, if we are required to do so by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Where we terminate your account for breach, we will have no obligation to refund any amounts paid.
The following sections will survive termination: Section 6 (Content You Post), Section 8 (Copyright and Intellectual Property), Section 11 (Disclaimers), Section 12 (Limitation of Liability), Section 13 (Indemnity) and Section 15 (Governing Law).
- Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Subject to any mandatory rights you may have under the law of your country of residence, the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of either platform.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
- Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the Service, in applicable law, or in our practices. We will publish any updated version on both platforms and update the effective date at the top of this document. Where changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to notify you in advance, such as by email or an in-app notification.
Your continued use of either platform after updated Terms take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.
